Guided by memory and his upbringing in Martinique and St Barth, R&eacute;my de Haenen&rsquo;s work is a reflection on moments of change from childhood and adult life. Discover more about his work and his donation to the Green Hearts Gala auction, taking place on January 3rd 2024.

Sweeping areas of vivid color and flattened figures posing in the distance of warm landscapes characterize de Haenen&rsquo;s more recent works. The scenes de Haenen paints are imagined, relaying feelings tied to memories of sea, nature, and the pastimes of daily life. The works are an emotional union between individuals and the landscapes of the tropics de Haenen knows so well. Inspired by his youth and meeting influential artists in New York like Andy Warhol and Salvador Dal&iacute;, de Haenen&rsquo;s pieces have evolved to communicate in a dialogue with Pop Art, often incorporating surrealist touches. In addition to his painted pieces, de Haenen also creates three dimensional pieces that often involve an element of engineering, something the artist studied in his younger years, to create pieces that evoke dream-like desires to pierce clouds, float, or fly.
This year de Haenen donated his piece &ldquo;Panié&rsquo;a ka pèsé loud&rdquo; (2020) to the Green Hearts Gala for auction in support of the environment and the people of St Barth, the island that raised him and reappears so consistently in his works. The piece is a snapshot of nature and sky, with a daydream-like quality that toes the line between real and imagined. On January 3rd, the piece will be auctioned along with other one of a kind artworks in an auction by Simon de Pury, an event that's sure to be remembered for years to come.&nbsp;&nbsp;
