In honor of the Eden Rock - St Barths hotel turning 70, a slew of exciting events will be taking place this season, one eagerly awaited being the artist residency of Robert Montgomery and his wife poet and actress Greta Bellamacina.

Montgomery&rsquo;s work centers around the idea of critiquing culture and yet still propagating hope, he does this by using poetry as a means to embed conversation into our public spaces. Using installations and harnessing materials like light and fire, Montgomery creates a much needed discourse on a large scale. The London based Scottish artist creates pieces that highlight issues of our time and disrupt consumerist discourse.

Montgomery&rsquo;s work will be coming to St Barths in the form of prints, paintings, and site specific installations set to light up the island and help the hotel ring in this significant milestone. His residency began last night with the installation of his &ldquo;LOVE IS THE REVOLUTIONARY ENERGY&rdquo; fire poem, where he said &ldquo;I believe that love is stronger than war, I believe that love is stronger than anything in human history&rdquo; before setting the words of the installation aflame in front of the beaches and the iconic silhouette of the Eden Rock - St Barths hotel.

Having done a show 10 years prior at Eden Rock - St Barths, this year&rsquo;s residency will be a return to the island for the artist and also a chance to re-install his &ldquo;ALL PALACES&rdquo; (2018) piece which was destroyed by Hurricane Irma. This reinstallation marks another anniversary of sorts for the artist, and echoes his significance to the Eden Rock - St Barths. The artist's stay is a moment for the hotel to celebrate creativity and inspiration, and a chance to showcase the powerful nature of art in the beautiful oasis that is St Barths.
