A look at Pierpaolo Piccioli's newest Valentino collection.

Valentino&rsquo;s SS 2024 show by Pierpaolo Piccioli was an homage to a woman&rsquo;s freedom to express herself in uncertain times. Piccioli referenced the push back on women's rights in Italy right now, as he stated the collection was an affirmation of a woman's right to choose. In an interview about the collection he said, &ldquo;The worst thing is the government has said to girls is &lsquo;be careful what you wear.&rsquo; I think that feminism is the freedom of women to be who they are. Even to expose the body, and say no.&rdquo;
On the runway, FKA Twigs performed live as models walked through a collection of classical sculptures, many of nude women, in the Beauxs-Arts School in Paris. Embroidery was used as a fabric throughout the collection, cut outs were sewn together to create their own cage-like textiles. Motifs of florals, leaves, and birds among other things were linked and transformed into clothing that took on different textures. There were a variety of more casual denim looks, as well as classic flowing gowns. The styling of the collection was chic and accessories were minimal, models wore sunglasses and occasionally wore one chunky expression of the valentino logo, whether that be on the handle of a bag or as the pendant on a necklace. Decoration became a means of construction at Valentino this season, the collection was a show of expert craftsmanship and a vocal support of women in the face of worrying times.
