Alessandro Michele&rsquo;s first collection for Valentino spring/summer 2025 was a lesson in showmanship.

At Valentino SS 2025, models walked down a runway of cracking shattered mirrors, through a crowd surrounded by lit floor lamps veiled with sheets, as though abandoned. Among the crowd were Harry Styles, Jared Leto, and Carla Bruni, along with a host of the designer's celebrity friends to watch his debut. From the show notes, this setting embodies the fragility and difficulties of the world around us, a &ldquo;pavillion des folies&rdquo;. The first look that emerged from the dim lit set up was a tea length tuxedo dress, what followed was a remedy, Alessandro Michele&rsquo;s offering of solace.&nbsp;
Models walked to string music and a heavy drum beat that helped create a distinct mood - sort of a brooding mystery. Pieces largely took on 1920&rsquo;s references, sequined tassels hung down from flapper-esque skull caps, a series of straight and slim silhouettes appeared, and furs dusted the floor as they hung off the shoulders of models. Warm colors dominated the palette, heavy patterned sequins, ostrich feathers, ruffled collars, and snakeskin details were repeated. Short jackets with plunging necklines were paired with trousers or over dresses and styled with large ribbon bow brooches. Large wide brimmed sun hats, pill box hats, veils, and face piercings all added to the slightly dark drama of the show. Alessandro Michele&rsquo;s collection brought his classic indulgent style to Valentino, an offering of beautiful clothing meant to pierce through the unknown of our surroundings.&nbsp;
