Gilded imaginary creatures, fuzzy anthropomorphized beings, and psychedelic constructions are all part of the Haas Brothers&rsquo; shared visual language, were taking a look at their work and their donation to the Green Hearts Gala this year.

The Haas Brothers&rsquo; catalog of works spans across a range of different mediums including metals, porcelain, fabrics, and beads, among other materials. The pair explore the psychedelic, the cartoonish, the erotic, and the natural world through their pieces, which often toe the blurred line between design object and art object. The result are objects that are colorful and witty, with shapes the eye follows and a uniquely tactile quality. The brothers create works that are both free spirited and conceptual, pieces that exude a playfulness and explore something natural and real.

The otherworldly outcomes are more than just pleasing to the eye though, many of these works are made in tandem with craftspeople both in California, where the pair are based, and abroad. In a donation to the Green Hearts Gala this year in St Barths, and in support for it&rsquo;s cause of raising funds for the environmental protection of the island and the health of its inhabitants, the pair have given their multimedia palm tree piece entitled &ldquo;Pope John Palm NS01763&rdquo; (2018). The piece is emblematic of the pair's work, functioning as lighting as well as art, and made with the help of women in a local Californian farming community.
