On Saturday, September 26, Dolce&amp;Gabbana unveiled its new Spring/Summer 2027 women’s collection,&nbsp;Stravaganza Siciliana, at Milan’s Metropol. The Italian fashion house celebrates Sicily’s opulence and theatricality, blending heritage with craftsmanship in a collection that echoes Vacanze Siciliane, the brand’s men’s collection presented in June.<o:p></o:p>

SICILY, PASSED DOWN
<o:p></o:p>Stravaganza Siciliana opens a wardrobe before it opens a runway show. 
This wardrobe belongs to Sicily's great family houses, where several generations live side by side: the dresses of great-grandmothers, the bodices of mothers, the hand-sewn lace of aunts, like a trousseau that was never put away. <o:p></o:p>"In Sicily, the wardrobe of the past does not need to be searched for. It is already there. It has been worn by generations of women evolving through time to reach the present day."<o:p></o:p>
Pantalettes, those long and loose trousers trimmed with lace that once served as an undergarment hidden beneath skirts, are back, but this time worn openly and with pride. The culotte skirt becomes ultra-short, sits on vertiginous heels, while the long and midi dresses, the ones the aunts used to wear, bring things full circle. <o:p></o:p>The corset returns with visible lacing, it hides nothing, it builds. The embroidery comes to perfect the garment, adding that deliberately dated and vintage touch. And for the lace, it is a true form of writing, that of the hands that shaped it before us.<o:p></o:p>
Each piece of the trousseau carries a gesture repeated from generation to generation. That is the whole idea behind this collection: throw nothing away and restore everything. Two inspirations work together, Sicily as territory and family as living memory: one gives the know-how and craftsmanship, the other gives the meaning.&nbsp;Nothing is invented, everything is passed down. Dolce &amp; Gabbana are not creating a collection, they are reopening a memory. <o:p></o:p>"The family archive becomes autobiography. Memory becomes style."<o:p></o:p>

THE BEAUTY OF MORE&nbsp;
<o:p></o:p>At Dolce &amp; Gabbana, everything blends together and too much is never enough.<o:p></o:p>
Floral prints mix with leopard prints, lace meets embroidery, and upholstery fabrics find their way onto dresses and jackets. Leopard establishes itself as the central motif of this collection, present since the Roman mosaics of the Villa Romana del Casale, where it already embodied power and spectacle. Lingerie hides beneath tailoring, while jewelry, for its part, accumulates without restraint: crosses, talismans, brooches, stones, pearls. <o:p></o:p>This accumulation finds its origin in Sicily's family palazzi, those baroque interiors where clothes, jewelry, textiles and objects are inherited to be passed down from generation to generation: the palazzo becomes a wardrobe, decorative fabrics move from the interior of the house onto the body and chandeliers come to inspire jewelry and accessories.<o:p></o:p>
Every historical code of the house is taken up, then pushed further. This maximalist mix and match is fully embraced and claimed, but more than that, it is the signature and identity of the house: that of an opulent, theatrical Italy.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>Identity lives in perpetual motion: framed by the past, transformed in the present, it places the future front and center.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>"Individuality become luxury. Today, true extravagance is to be unrepeatable."<o:p></o:p>

STAGING THE EXTRAORDINARY&nbsp;
<o:p></o:p>Before the first look, the Metropol goes dark.<o:p></o:p>
Projections fill the space with behind-the-scenes footage, close-ups on lace, embroidery, and hands at work. The screen becomes a threshold: Sicily, the palazzo, the archive, all rebuilt in image. A voice narrates over it, setting the collection before a single silhouette appears. <o:p></o:p>
This is not spectacle for its own sake: it is a prologue. The runway doesn't simply present garments, it stages a memory, cinematic, theatrical, closer to a film opening than a fashion show.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>By the time the first model walks, the audience has already stepped inside the world.<o:p></o:p>
Dolce&amp;Gabbana does not show a collection, they stage a story, an extravagant and Sicilian one.<o:p></o:p>
