Since its creation, COCO MADEMOISELLE has been built around a woman who belongs to no one, sure of her choices and impossible to pin down.&nbsp;COCO MADEMOISELLE CRUSH ABSOLU picks up that thread and pulls it tighter. Rose and jasmine, the fragrance's historic heart, are still there, but now surrounded by new facets that make them feel different, almost rediscovered. This scent isn't seeking consensus; it asserts itself, even if that means surprising the woman who wears it as much as those around her.

<h4 class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">A NIGHT ESCAPE DIRECTED BY JOE WRIGHT<o:p></o:p></h4>
To tell this story, CHANEL turned to Joe Wright, director of Pride &amp; Prejudice, Atonement and Anna Karenina. His filmography has already crossed paths with the House: he was behind the camera for Keira Knightley's COCO MADEMOISELLE films in the 2010s. Now he's back, this time to hand the role to a new interpreter. The film opens on a heroine held captive by appearances, dressed and adorned as if she were a mannequin. Then comes the shift. One spray of the fragrance and she sheds her disguise gesture by gesture: the wig falls away and the eyeliner is wiped off with the back of a hand. The car that was meant to drive her off pulls away empty. She runs through Paris instead, hair cropped short, legs bare, face bare, to the sound of&nbsp;Young Hearts Run Free.&nbsp;What CHANEL is filming here isn't an escape: it's a reclaiming of self.<o:p></o:p>

CHANEL’s new muse, Gracie Abrams, embodies this shift with striking ease. Before the fragrance, the singer was already the face of COCO MADEMOISELLE COCO CRUSH. Having grown up watching her predecessor's CHANEL films, Gracie Abrams revisited that work to prepare for her own, marking her first-ever acting role in an advertisement. In the behind-the-scenes film, she sums up what convinced her to take on the role&nbsp;: "the north star concept of choosing yourself is something I'm proud to represent." A line that could stand on its own as COCO MADEMOISELLE CRUSH ABSOLU's tagline.&nbsp;At its core, choosing yourself is exactly what this fragrance is about.

Composed by Olivier Polge, CHANEL In-House Perfumer Creator, COCO MADEMOISELLE CRUSH ABSOLU openswith a bright accord of lychee and grapefruit, almost like a spark. Then comes the heart: rose and jasmine, familiar notes at the heart of the COCO MADEMOISELLE universe. The base settles in after that, warmer and more sensual, with patchouli elevated by ambery notes, vanilla accents and notes of vetiver. Like the film, the fragrance moves in ruptures: a freshness that gives way to an intensity you didn't see coming, one that only truly takes shape once worn. In the end, COCO MADEMOISELLE CRUSH ABSOLU isn't so much a new fragrance as a new way of asking a question COCO MADEMOISELLE has posed for twenty-five years: who do we belong to, if not ourselves? Once again, the House is affirming that true luxury begins where appearances end.<o:p></o:p>
