Presented as part of the &ldquo;Art Pairing&rdquo; evenings at La Cave 19 52, this now well-established rendezvous in Gustavia brings together art, wine, cocktails and creative encounters in a warm and inspiring atmosphere. Every first Thursday of the month, the wine cellar invites a local artist into dialogue with one of its wine or spirits brands, transforming the space into a true place of cultural exchange.<o:p></o:p>
For this new edition, Igor Couston presents his minimalist and organic sculptures, paired with a tasting of a Caribbean Mule made with Planteray Original Dark rum. Between sculptural forms, natural inspirations and Caribbean identity, this encounter celebrates both artistic expression and the art of living unique to Saint Barth.<o:p></o:p>

Can you tell us about the concept behind La Cave 19 52 and the unique atmosphere you wanted to create in the heart of Gustavia? For the past three years, La Cave 19 52 has established itself as the contemporary extension of La Cave du Port Franc. It is much more than a simple wine shop. We wanted to create a lively and accessible place, in the heart of Gustavia and the harbor, where tastings, meetings between wine lovers and professionals, artistic discoveries and cultural events all come together. The idea was to offer a warm and friendly experience in a space that reflects both the elegance and the spirit of sharing that are part of Saint Barth.
The name &ldquo;19 52&rdquo; immediately sparks curiosity. What is the meaning behind it and what does it represent for you? &ldquo;19 52&rdquo; is above all an important date for us, a personal reference around which we like to keep a touch of mystery. But it is also a lighter and more universal reference: the time when people stop to buy, at the very last minute, the bottle that will accompany an improvised dinner with friends.
You organize the &ldquo;Art Pairing&rdquo; evenings every first Thursday of the month. How did the idea of bringing together art, wine, cocktails and spirits in the same place come about? The idea for the &ldquo;Art Pairing&rdquo; evenings came above all from a genuine passion for art and sharing. We wanted to make La Cave 19 52 a lively place where different forms of creation could meet. Every first Thursday of the month, we highlight a different local artist, offering them a space for expression and an opportunity to connect with our clientele. Their works remain on display for one month. For us, wine and spirits are also a form of art. Behind every bottle, there is a vision, know-how, sensitivity and a story. What we taste or contemplate is ultimately the result of a creative process, just like a work displayed on a wall. The &ldquo;Art Pairing&rdquo; evenings were therefore born naturally from this desire to create a dialogue between these worlds in a convivial and inspiring atmosphere.
This Thursday, you are offering a tasting of a Caribbean Mule made with Planteray &ldquo;Original Dark&rdquo; rum. Can you tell us more about this cocktail and the flavors it evokes? For this edition, we wanted to reinterpret the famous Mule with a more sunny and Caribbean identity, highlighting Planteray &ldquo;Original Dark&rdquo; rum. The Caribbean Mule is a cocktail that is fresh, spicy and very balanced, where the warm notes of the rum blend with the liveliness of lime and the slightly spicy character of ginger beer.
It is a cocktail that immediately evokes the Caribbean: generous flavors, a certain tropical freshness and a spirit of conviviality. Through this tasting, the idea is also to introduce the artisanal work behind this rum, its aromatic richness and all the complexity it can bring to a cocktail that is both accessible and refined.<o:p></o:p>
Saint Barth has a very particular identity between French and Caribbean influences. How does the island&rsquo;s energy inspire your selection of wines, champagnes and spirits at 19 52? Saint Barth has a unique energy, at once elegant, cosmopolitan and deeply Caribbean. This identity naturally influences our selection at La Cave 19 52. We seek to offer wines, champagnes and spirits that reflect this art of living: refined and demanding references, yet always designed around sharing, conviviality and pleasure. The island attracts an international clientele with very varied tastes, which pushes us to remain constantly curious and to select both major established houses and more confidential artisanal producers. We like to create a selection that brings together French excellence with the sunny and relaxed energy of the Caribbean. It is this balance between sophistication and authenticity that, in our opinion, perfectly represents the spirit of Saint Barth.

Interview &mdash; Igor Couston<o:p></o:p>
Can you tell us how you started working with ceramics? At what moment did this art become a true vocation for you? <o:p></o:p>I wanted to learn wheel throwing when I was 11 years old, but I was disappointed not to do it more often during pottery classes. So I started again seriously at 17, for good. Little by little, I felt free to create the objects I imagined.<o:p></o:p>
Your sculptures feature minimalist lines and very singular forms, sometimes almost sculptural or architectural. What are your main sources of inspiration? I always wanted to modernize &ldquo;pottery,&rdquo; inspired by Japanese artists such as Jun Kaneko, but also Constantin Brancusi, and of course Picasso, whom I already loved as a child. Otherwise, nature remains my greatest inspiration: all forms already exist.
Some of your works evoke silhouettes of heads, horns or precious details such as gold. What do these elements represent in your artistic work? The white enamel egg, like the moon, represents the feminine, and the gold horns the masculine.
How would you describe your creative universe and what you seek to convey through your unique pieces? I do not seek to convey something particular, only the freedom to create endlessly.
Each sculpture is made as a unique piece. What place do instinct, balance of forms and the work of the material hold in your creative process? <o:p></o:p>I spend a lot of time searching for proportions and curves that I find harmonious.<o:p></o:p>
How did you arrive in Saint Barth&eacute;lemy, and what do you particularly love about the atmosphere and lifestyle of the island? <o:p></o:p>I discovered Saint Barth when I was 8 years old thanks to Sylvie Carrelet, a friend of my mother who had a house on the harbor. I love this village in the middle of the ocean.<o:p></o:p>
What are your favorite places in Saint Barth to find inspiration, relax or simply enjoy the beauty of the island? I love Saline, those are my childhood memories. You can breathe on this beach, it is large and powerful.
